Stay overnight

Come and appreciate the marvelous landscape near the city of Izumo, located in the prefecture of Shimane, with its rich forests and hills full of Shinto-mysticism and wild seashores.

The majority of foreign as well as Japanese tourism is drawn to the famous Izumo-Taisha Grand shrine, one of the most ancient and important Shinto-shrines in Japan.

However, only few get a glimpse of Izumo’s surrounding historical countryside and experience the traditional way of living as of 400-200 years ago.

Spend a night in a historical Japanese farmhouse (“Kominka”, literally “old private house”) on the countryside, completely renovated by a renowned local architecture office – a true insider’s tip.

You will be cooking rice on a traditional cooking stove and heat the bath on fire.
Enjoy the simple but convenient traditional Japanese lifestyle and refresh your body and 5 senses.
Savor the evening whilst gathering around the traditional sunken fireplace (“Irori”) and eating grilled fish.
Bring your own food and cook it up the way you want.
